Philip Borthwick has been a well-respected member of Local 98 since 1996; he grew up in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. He applied to get into Local 98 shortly after graduating from Archbishop Carroll H.S. in 1995.
Philip has been a sub-foreman and foreman, a good union man, and someone who always stands up for the working members whenever called upon. He has also dealt with his share of unemployment throughout his years here. If elected to the Executive Board, he will be a fighting force for getting members paid to hold delinquent contractors accountable, as he has been the victim of this firsthand. When it happened to him, he felt like his voice wasn’t heard when his complaints went unanswered at all levels of our past leadership, so he hopes to change this. Phil is a true “members first” person, who truly believes that no one that serves on the Executive Board should hold a position as a Business Agent, and he is adamant in that stance. With the members’ support and vote, Philip would be an excellent choice to serve on our Executive Board.
“An independent executive board is true transparency.”
