Back To Basics

IMPORTANT ISSUES

TEAM NEILSON
Principles

It is time we get back to basics instead of our business manager living an elaborate lifestyle with our dues monies. Spending millions to get his name in a paper or a picture at the White House or hiring friends as consultants with no knowledge of our business or what we do.

Be part of a group of members that have “Our interests,” not “self-interests,” when making decisions that will affect us.  IBEW Local 98 is full of talent that can help fill the voids within the union hall.  There is no need to pay others, especially when we have unemployed members.

A Better Way - A Brighter Future

Getting back to the basics and building a brighter future for every member to thrive. No nonsense, can-do, and get-it-done attitude so that every member is lifted up. Together we can, together we will.

Honesty + Integrity + Experience = JOBS

It is important to elect a team of honest members with the experience to lead our union into the future! For the first time in decades, the members of IBEW Local 98 have a chance to elect members with a seasoned on the job skill set and experience to put our union back on track. It is time to clean house with a group of independent thinkers that were not part of the problem with a solution.

Technology + Efficiency = LOWER DUES

Using technology to our advantage will increase efficiencies throughout our union. Every aspect of the business and financial offices including staffing need to be examined. Current staffing levels with all the technology advances are no longer needed. Developing a working application for phones will help agents’ police our jurisdiction of nonunion activities.

Transparency + Accountability = Better Member Services

Technology upgrades will also provide the membership with information at their fingertips through a secure portal. By providing online services including, but not limited to, meeting minutes and expense reports, out of work list, job reporting, contractor contact lists will provide the transparency wanted and the accountability needed to move our union forward.

Our approach will be a team approach for those willing to put in the time to:

  • Help secure Man Hours for the membership
  • Make workplaces safer and more dignified
  • Enforce the Agreement
  • Help negotiate for good pay, benefits, and retirement security
  • Inclusion of the membership

When elected, there will be a diverse committee approach to the issues facing our union. Whether it be finances, business, or politics, I will establish committees that will meet regularly to advise the Business Manager and Executive Board instead of a small group. These advisory committees will also prepare future leaders of our union. We have the talent within with degrees from multiple schools in engineering, finance, project management and more. These talents should be put to good use, for all of us.
